Hello There. I've got myself a 2013 FL2 SD4 HSE with 90K kms on the clock. She's a beauty. I've bought her to go driving to Himalayan mountain towns in the north of India.

Where are you headed @moontan ? I've visited a few northern hill towns and former British hill stations. The latter always made me chuckle, slices of 1920s England in the foothills of the Himalaya; Anglican churches, the Mall, 'Tudorbethan' style houses and bungalows called Rose Cottage or Mountain View :D Simla, Nainital, Mussoorie (my favourite), Lansdowne, Dharamshala/ McLeodganj. A relief from the heat of the plains and fun in the winter.

Things will have changed, I was there in the 70s  nearly got killed twice on those mountain roads, first time crossing a landslip with a river coursing through it road to Badrinath, second time a boulder fall missed the bus by seconds on road to Manali.

Photos of your trips would be great ;)

The LR2 has already been to Haridwar, Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Gentle slopes and well maintained roads. She's now being prepped for a more brutal trip next month that will take her to Manali, The Spiti Valley, Lahoul, Jibhi, Rohtang La (the highest road on the planet), Leh, Ladakh, etc. Extreme mountain roads where we plan to spend a month traveling. Here's a few pics from last month drive to Hardwar, Rishikesh, The Doon Valley and Mussoorie. The river pictured is the most sacred river in India, The Ganga.

Rishikesh was my base, loved the place but it was much more tranquil in '75 than when I returned in '88. I guess it has changed much more since then. It was all yoga and hippies in my day, now seem to be yoga and white water rafting! Went up to Badrinath, that was a journey, had to wait for the roads to become passable after the monsoon but it was still an arduous 3 day drive along frankly scary roads; this was when our bus nearly went off the edge. Manali to Rhotang was a gas, before the Manali-Leh highway was built so again quite funky narrow roads.
Thanks for the photos.

Thank you. I've been going through the threads on this forum quite a bit and I've figured out that you're quite the boss-man when it comes to the FL1.
I had my FL1 for 11 years. Spent lots of time fixing it and keeping it going. A much loved vehicles that I also took oft road. I then converted it to a FL2. ;)

By converted, did you mean swapping for a FL2 or did you swap the prop shaft out for a modified Haldex driven rear diff and get rid of that pesky VCU?
