I've still got a way with my series. Mechanically done, the water pump and fuel tank are replaced. Just some cracks in the body work, an oil leak (which i'll be making a thread about as there's two locations...) and undoing some of the absolutely piss crazy sealing jobs the PO did to her.

Sounds an awesome project , I had the pleasure of doing a chassis swap on my old 88 diesel many moons ago

Ah yes the bodges , like ur godself winds me up beyond belief , think I spent nearly a year sorting them out as I kept uncovering them, ie, cable ties to secure brake lines , wire connectors glued together , looms not secured in correct clips , list went on and on , but at least I know it’s all been done properly

Know it also takes a lot of time sourcing parts etc and putting things right

Would have really liked to have seen ur project , have u got any threads running at the moment , will check them out if u have plse

Indeed ur find this forum extremely friendly and helpful, is like a large dysfunctional family, lol

Here’s my D3 , bought it as a project 2 x years ago, have virtually torn the thing apart , just got a few bits left to do, after rebuilding suspension, airbag system etc , its been well worth it as I really like it

Look forward to the rangie pics plse

Did you sell the 88? There's something great about working on the old ones, theraputic even.

cable ties to secure brake lines , wire connectors glued together

Sweet christ... what goes through peoples minds?

No active threads at the moment, i didn't really catalog what i was doing other than the fuel tank, didn't think it was major enough. I have some pics but it's mostly in this very moment in time. I might upload some later when home from work.

The main bodges i want to undo are the sealed shut (and painted over) front vents and the silicone that has been used to stick the roof on... I'll do some threads when i get on it.

I did sell it , must be 20 x years ago

Ur right , was very therapeutic , really enjoyed being able to build one from the chassis up and having all the room u need

Indeed I couldnt believe what some of the previous OP had done , I’m that sad when I installed new clips I made sure they were all the same way , lol

Look forward if u create a new thread in the series section with some piccies , will keep an eye out
