I thought it was time to say hello, My name is Matt and recently completed 25 years in the RN, I have had Landy's all my life, 3 Series 2s, 2 Series 2a's, a Disco and we recently decided to treat ourselves to a 2004 Freelander facelift HSE, a fantastic car in lovely condition with low mileage.
After much research we decided to go for the TD4 as the reviews were so good! Well.. the TD4 engine is great(BMW), it's the rest of the car that's the let down, I feel as if Land Rover got to 90% of the build and thought.. That will do!(why have permanently heated wing mirror's?? why not connect them to the windscreen de-mist!) We have had problem after problem, the worst being VCU and rear Diff failure, I have more problems but one by one they will be eliminated, I will win!
Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely car, lovely ride and a pleasure to drive but I do feel Land Rover are resting on thier laurels, when you here the name Land Rover you think quality, build and reliability and not think will I make it to the supermarket today!
I may have the runt of the litter but at the end of the day it's a Land Rover, it may have it's problems but with perseverance it will be a good car.
Happy new year all
Matt

Hello Mat, from dept 64.

Welcome to a forum with a vast amount of knowledge and I don't include myself in that category. Search search and search again has been my motto and the forum has been an invaluable source of help.
