Hello All,

I have just joined the forum. I live up in Edinburgh, however spent many years living out in the UAE.

Used to own two Discover 1's V8's - now moved back to Scotland looking at getting a good Disco 2 to work on :).

Looking forward to contributing where I can.

Cheers

Welcome mate, prepare for the incoming - total madness is on this site! And help when needed may I add. Is the queen home?

Thank you very much for the guide! - had a look. My first stage is the chassis, I am just posting about that - As can't find any pics of what is considered a "good to work with" chassis.

Cheers!

A hidden area for chassis rot on them is behind the rear air bags / springs, worth paying attention to. As well as the rest of the rear third , but do not miss checking the whole chassis, as the front can rot out as well.

Cheers

Welcome from north of the river. Not a Discovery owner but good luck with the project and lots of advice available on the forum.

Yes, I had something of a shock with mine a couple of months ago when I was crawling under it changing diff oil etc. I had a little poke at that area on the RHS and my screwdriver went right through it. Investigation proved, as always, that it was worse than I thought. Oddly, the nearside was fine.

I've had it plated as the rest of the chassis is pretty sound but it's well worth keeping an eye on that area, hard to get at as it is.
