HI all
Thought I would introduce my self as it seems ill be hanging around, you guys all seem very helpful and thats a good thing because I am very new to being a discovery 2 td5 owner.

So I picked up the car a few months ago I paid £3800, its a silver disco2 td5 ES 2003, it has 126k on the clock and was in a clean ish state, 2 owners one was a lady who used it as the family car and the second was a guys who wanted it for running around in for work, he had only had it for a short while under a year i think, he said it was to thirsty so it ended up just parked up in his drive under a tree, I now think he new a lot more that he had let on and that was the reason for selling.

It was hard for me to try and see through all the dirt and all the sap of the tree but after a week of good cleaning its come up well i think. As I said I am totally new to land rovers so apart from checking all the electrics and how the car drove I really was blind.

After a few days it became apparent that the car need a fair bit of TLC, so I had a full service done and got a independent LR garage to go over it and advice me on what would need looking in to,
That list was bloody long, this is what i have done so far -

steering alignment

reconditioned abs module ( The three amigos came on a few days after me buying the car )

water pump replacement

2 new tyres

divers side window regulator ( again broke a few weeks after buying the car)

two rear hubs, disks and pads rear ( they had oil all over them from the failed hubs)

suspension bush front, Left and right.

brake pipes

full service new oil etc etc

I still have a few things to do like the fuel reg thats leaking a small amount, ACE or power steering leak altho i have not noticed the level dropping at all, O/S/F wheel bearing nosey, transfer/gearbox small leak. I have also noticed over the last few days is that its dropping over, drivers side rear, the rear hight sensors have had it so ill be replacing them first and getting it re set up at the garage, apparently the air bags are ok but ill recheck them with some soapy water tomorrow hopefully

I also have a leaking sunroof so this weekend ill be taking out the headliner to sort this problem before the winter sets in, whilst its out ill be re doing the headliner as its sagging in a few places and lets down the inside of the car.

so as you have probably worked out the car has cost me the same again give or take and I have hit the point of no return so I may as well carry on fixing her up. I no she is safe on the road now so all the other bits I can do over the next year if i can, then once all thats done I can do the less impotent bits like new wheels, bumper, light guards possibly look in to lifting a bit, you know all the cool stuff.

here are a few pics of the car at the moment.

They're a great way of getting rid of excess wealth! But yours is so tidy...it'll be worth it!

wealth i don't have, but your right it'll be worth it, I have realised its one of those cars you just get the bug for, it was the same many years ago when I had minis.
