Hey you guys!

I have started mocking up for fitting disco 1 seats in me Landy. I'm starting to build the seat frames this week.

Hi Lee,

They do look neat in there, are you going to make the passenger seat easily removable? for battery access?

Cheers

nope! lol the passenger seat will be moved over 50mm for better arm room. under the seat will be twin AGM batteries with a external anderson plug for jump leads ect. if i do need to take the seat out its only 4 bolts.

The cam locking tool came today! so I'm just making a start on making a crank locking tool ready for cracking off the crank bolt this weekend.

Im using the PCD on the puller tool to mark out the holes in the plate of the crank locking tool.

Is it any good??
Been thinking about one of these for awhile...
Sorry for the hijack!!!

Let me know the next time you might need one and you can borrow it and make up your own mind, the only thing I don't like about it is its weight. As I've got sparrow arms it's pretty hard to use it whilst holding a spanner if it's a nut and bold you're trying to undo:oops: I've got an Aldi special for my air compressor which has had plenty of stick though

Did the timing belt today and i think i did it just in time!

Is this a normal amount of wear?
new belt is underneath the old one.

So over the weekend i have striped the front grill, rad and intercooler off to give me better access when i change the timing belt.
I thought this would be a good time to flush the old coolant from the engine, rad and also clean out both the intercooler ind inlet as i am removing the EGR crap off.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean the inlet runners are. i was expecting a lot of carbon from the EGR.
May be a new head has been fitted or maybe the EGR is disconnected somewhere who knows.

My god, your a brave man:eek:

I had never done a timing belt before I got my 300tdi but there was nowhere near that amount of debris in the case.
I didn't check the width of the belt but it was loose enough to remove without undoing anything!!!.
I have no idea how old the belt was though, and it had the old type pulleys and tensioner.
I don't think it was the original belt though as there were wear grooves in the front cover where the belt had rubbed against it.

Nice job of the locking tool!!

I have been repairing the disco 1 seats today read to bolt into the defender.

I bought 10m of elasticised webbing for £10 rather than £60 for the rubber diaphragm!

so far so good!
