Hi All, new here. Recently got a L322 2004 Range Rover Vogue TD6. Had it a few months and the other day the Air Suspension Inactive fault appeared. Had been fine to that point. Got myself a Foxwell NT510 Pro and reset the EAS faults after noting it had a temperate sensor issue reported on the compressor. Initially everything sprang back to life but within minutes the front was sagging again but that was not all. I note the control switch only flashes when put to the 'Standard' heigh position and nothing happens. Same with 'Off Road', 'Access', etc. Tried a recalibration of the vehicle but then the temperate reported an overheat. Now I've manually pumped up the front with the tool when the compressor was cold and locked it in that position...yet to drive the vehicle though. It will probably drop again I guess.

Any ideas what this issue is? Is it that my compressor is due for the scrap yard and the flashing lights on the controls are a sign of that? Or is it something else? Have I possible messed up the calibration of the EAS?
 
I think the compressor can be rebuilt with new piston and liner, it does sound like the pump has gone probable over working feeding a leak the front bags are a well know item are they original if so they will be passed there best, if you need to change them I think the Delphi ones are best the Dunlop ones knock.
 
Thanks. I've ordered a kit from x8r in preperation for a rebuild at the weekend. After posting this today I tried driving to work and on the way my front end caught a speed bump, so getting out to check I noticed the front was down very far and rear was super extended very high. Fortunately had my diag tool with me and raised the front manually with its special functions so could drive to work. During my break I checked the offset and they were showing ridiculous figures of 65000mm and 1000mm (front and back respectively I think). I also noted that after leaving the car for a few hours the lights stopped flashing on the switch and it came on with the it showing it was set at standard height, so using the tool I adjust the actual height of the vehicle and recalibrated it again. So far, touch wood, it has held at a "rough" standard height all evening and my drive home will tell if it will work enough to drive until I get around to the rebuild.....

So it seems that perhaps my compressor was hot and hitting the overheat protection (although no error code logged). Therefore, my switch was flashing away doing nothing. Leaving it for a few hours to cool right down appears to have brought some life back in to it for now.......fingers crossed that it just needs to kit and that will be the end of the woes!!!
 
The lights flash until the height sensor is happy you have reached the correct height.
The overheat could be caused by leaking air springs as brian says or piston ring worn.
I would put the vehicle in off road height manually if necessary and get some soapy water and look for leaks in the front air springs
 
I would be thinking about sourcing and pricing front bags. Sounds like they are very tired and will go bang pretty soon followed by the rears.
 
Waiting on kit but various odd events have occurred.

This morning vehicle came up as expected. At lunch, vehicle did not rise unless tickled with the diagnostic tool. Then it drive level for a while and subsequently dropped the front down. It doesn’t seem like air bags as they will hold and looking through service history, the full set was replaced last year.

I’ve tried calibrating with height with my tool and when put in to calibrate, the whole car lifts to off road height and sits as it should. Finish calibration and it drops to standard height then once driving, front lowers again.

My compressor keeps giving overheat warnings on diagnostic so I think that may be contributing but not convinced it’s the full story yet. Weekend reconditioning will tell.
 
Well that's good news its had new bags all round, still worth a spraying soapy water all round them just to rule them out, was it complete struts or just bags.
