I've driven Landys years ago but never took the plunge and bought one (I blame the wife). So joined here for advice on buying I guess.
It'll be shared with my daughter who loves them too.
We're thinking a Defender 90. She has horses and wants to fill the back up with hay. I just want to drive it to the pub and up the mountain.
Seen loads on Autotrader etc. Also been advised to get an ex-military one but they seem to be aspirated engines not TDi from Discovery2, which we're told is best.
We're in Pontypridd, south Wales.
Price, probably go up to £15k, if we could get a decent one.
She has a BMW X5 to part-ex. Probably worth £4k max.

Almost ready to commit, but budget has risen slightly ;)
Can I mention garages here? Don't want to break rules but a bit of advice on price is what I'm after.
Found a few we love, some more customised than others, 100k miles, 2008 - 2.4 TDCi XS 4WD SWB Euro 4 3dr
It looks fab but they want £22.5k - I've offered £18k (would go to £20k) but still waiting for reply lol.
I know, without seeing it you can't really comment but am I in the right ball park?
Any thoughts? Ta :)

You'll need to see the service records to judge. Have a read on the engine history how many owners or from new. If the seller is good then ask for pictures of the underside especially the chassis front and back. Worth taking a bod with good knowledge of Landrovers too.

Yeah been asking about chassis and bulkhead condition / galvanised.
I'm looking at a resprayed Land Rover Defender 90 County 2003 td5 96k miles at the moment.
Price £19k but think that's too much.
We've asked for more info.

I very much doubt anyone on here will gazump you, the last thing any of us need is another Land Rover?
