Hi.
Iv'e been wanting a Free Lander for some time now and thought i had found a 'gooden'. Gave it a look over and all seemed to be in order. Very clean and no signs of abuse. Is it me, as i have not owned one before, but when i got to 60/70 it seemed to make more noise at the rear and some vibration. during the test drive we were not near a motorway so this did not happen.
Iv'e decided to stick with this Freelander and sort it out if there is indeed a major problem and not pass it on to some one else.
So, any help and advice on this forum will be most welcome.

Where do i go from here?

Cheers all

Now thats quick as replies go!

It's a diesel.. Done 75,500 and i'm bent on keeping it. If i can put it right!

Previous owner has left a set of curlers attached to the VCU ... Burn the back end first and see if the fault has then gone ;)

Could be a badly worn wheel bearing if you are lucky. Does it make more noise on bends under load?

The droning sound/ hum comes in at 60mph. Av had a look under and the prop supports seam very soft, can push the prop from one side of the bracket to the other, could this be it?
Ive been on the direct gov site and viewed the old MOT history there is mention of an advisory on diff bushes a good few miles back?

Will put me' perm' cap on at weekend and give it another look at when av shut the salon :) IF a finish waxing me legs in time!

id guess wheel bearing from the sounds of it... jack the back up and give the wheels a wobble...

P.s. freelanders are gay! my mum drives one and shes enough to turn any man gay!
