Hi folks hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
My wife has a 2010 freelander 2 2.2 td4e.
It start rattling on the top end a few months ago and misfiring, so we parked it up, but I'm looking at sorting it.
Symptoms are, top end rattle, misfire, loads and loads of smoke (unburnt fuel, not oil) and can't seem to hear the turbo now.
Plugged in jlr nothing, no lights on dash, went unplugging injectors and No4 made no difference, so changed and recoded, but still misfires but on 1 now.
What the hell is it

These engines suffer from swirl flap failure I believe (not uncommon on BMW diesels either) so I'd been looking there for starters.

swirl flaps... could that be the cause of my mystery stumble/stall now and then i wonder. we came from a 5series and the done thing there was a delete before they were ingested - is it the same thing here - delete i mean hopefully not ingesting think that was just the 6 pot setup.
sorry for the hijack..

Lol I gave up trying to figure that one out... changes every other post... when I needed injectors a specialist breaker gave me bm ones for my fl2 they worked lol

I thought they were ford engines not BMW in the FL2s?
They are Peugeot DW12 engines, which are also used by Ford.

The BMW reference was to point out that any engine which has swirl flaps, will probably have issues with them, BMW inclusive. ;)
Sorry for any confusion caused.

Does whatever engine comes in my car have swirlflaps?
The engine in the FL2 a Peugeot DW12.;)
Yes they had swirl flaps from 2007 to around 2011. And they can rattle, or if you're really unlucky, they can break free and be ingested by the engine, which isn't good.
