Having problems with my V8 mk2 Discovery 4ltr Petrol.
No1 spark plug seems to tighten up okay but when I drive the plug pops out after about a minute. wondering if anyone knows of a suitable kit to repair the threads without removing the head??
Thanks in anticipation
Colin

I once fixed that problem with a piece of aluminium from a Mountain Dew can. Then I put in a heli coil. Sounds terrible when the plug pops out!

hi there and welcome!
if you do it yourself, make sure you do it right first time!!!! they are a bugger to get out

Once hardened an old spark plug by heat treating it, cut up threads like a tap , loads of grease and slowly retapped out . Works once so get it right

A slightly better solution than helicoil is a timesert which unlike the helicoils is a solid insert rather than a wire one. I've used both types in the past and would use the timesert, even though they are more expensive, over helicoil every time if available.
