My Discovery 2 2000 started making a sort of whining noise today & on starting for the return journey the steering was very heavy & making more strange noises.
It was serviced on Thurs & has been driven about 60 since. It also had front brake pads & discs so i assume they would have noticed any leaks while working on the brakes.

Steering feels ok at speed but at going slowly it is very heavy.

Any ideas?

check pas fluid level, if that's ok, then chances are, pas pump is on its way out. £60ish for a new one and 30mins to fit

same symptoms as my steering damper failing, worth having it checked if you arent too handy with the spanners, 10 min job, and standard parts are cheap as chips

Thanks for all the help guys. I checked the fluid level this morn & basically there wasn't any!

Drove carefully to the garage about a mile away & it turns out it is a pipe that has rubbed & developed a hole so that's where it all went.

Pipe on it's way from Landrover so should be fixed tomorrow:)

Next problem to tackle is the leaking roof - garage I bought it from said they had sealed it but obviously not very well.
