hello again I have ran into a spot of bother with my 200tdi disco engine. iv never checked to se how her breathing was before but I found if I take the oil cap off its like a bonfire remove cylone breather and it pours out of there to with oil I removed the sump pipe and it dull it a very little and out of dipstick .I removed the rocker box and started it oil was coming up out of the inlet pushrod tubes 5 to 6 inches like a ruddie fountain on tick over I had a compression test and 1.2.4 read 380psi and 3 was 340 I also done a oil pressure test and that was 55psi cold to 45 psi warm back to 55 when reved .after speaking to my mechanic mate and looking on here I removed the head on the grounds these gaskets go into pushrod tubes but it don't seem to of gone there but some of the gasket stayed on the head and block so im now wundering what the problem could be thanks for any help given
 
yes across the shiny fire ring,if it had blown through symptoms would be noticeably with bonnet shut
I will take a look tomorrow .would you say im on the right path with this or should I investigate further .but I cant think of anything else it could be
 
Old trick is get engine to temperature, leave ticking over and undo oil filler cap and rest it on its hole, if cap flies off the engine is mildly shagged!
 
Faulty brake vacuum has cause pressurisation but that sounds excessive is oil level normal
Have I read that right oil squirting up 6 inches high from all inlet pushrod holes but not exhaust push rod holes

thanks steve2286w for the extra info and that is correct its not something iv seen or heard of before .the oil level was just below the full line
 
I’m trying to figure why the oil comes up just In the inlet holes and if cam bearings were displaced oil could squirt onto cam lobes and bat up it upwards ?
Number 1 cam bearing pumps oil to rockershaft as it has a flat on it

Number 1 cam bearing pumps oil to rockershaft as it has a flat on it
it has a groove that connects the top and bottom oil drilling , the cam gallery is the oil return for the head its always has oil flowing through it a displaced cam bearing usually just shows lower oil pressure
 
On B5 Volvo engines that had notorious PCV issues, they'd recommend you wrap a rubber glove over the oil filler and start the engine "with an assistant" if it inflates the glove you have excess crankcase pressure!

Odd.

This diagram is so,useful, James if the o rings around vac pump were missing could oil squirt onto cam lobes and come up inlet holes

cam lobes are been drenched in oil all the tiime as in my last post, if you removed rocker cover on a running engine engine bay would soon be lathered, excessive crank case pressure is a different issue
