New (to me) 2004 90 TD5 is still giving me a headache over the 110. Heating this time.

The lower heater vents are not working. How to I trace the vent piping and are the nozzles the round ones on the air conditioning vent housing? I had a look in the engine bay and couldn’t see what I would thing were the ducting so I’m guessing it all runs behind the dash some how.

The lower heating vents are fed directly from the heater box on the opposite side of the bulkhead. Those circular vents in the A/C connect directly to the bottom of the dash, no real piping.

Does the fan work? If not, did you check the fuses?

If you adjust between the defroster and the knee heater, do the vent flaps open and close? Or are they closed all the time (air only comes from the defroster). May need a cable adjustment or new cable.

Open the bonnet after turning the heater on high; feel around the heater box and where it mates up to the big plastic piece under the wing. Is there any air blown out between the heater box and the bulkhead? Or the heater box and the plastic piece under the wing?

Cheers I'll have a look. The windscreen vents work but drivers is weak so I'll check to see if the flap is moving. Where's the best place to look. I'll check for hot air leaks around the heater box too.

Thanks.

Right - I've had a look and the cables are fine at the control end and the hot and cold is working. I can't see where the other cable goes as it seems to disappear behind the heater box. When I operate the drefroster/knee heater here's what happens.

On screen the passenger side is blowing a lot harder than the drivers side.
In the middle position the passenger side strength drops to the same as the drivers side windscreen but no warm air to my needs.
In the lower position nothing down below and a modicum of warm air to the screen.

I couldn't feel any air escaping around the heater box so it sounds like the cable is not opening the vent flap but where do I look to check?
