there 2 kinds of heating oil one is paraffin and will **** your fuel injection system as contains no lube the other is red diesel ,less used as is dirtier when burnt ,will run a vehicle but is illegal
Iirc kerosene is avgas ie red diesel and i think the standard army 300tdi 90s could run on std diesel and the kerosene so they only had yo get one type of fuel to the field.

kerosene ain't avgas, it's just a yank word for parrafin.
the word comes from the greek word keros Patened 1854 kerosene for lantern oil cleaner burn instead of whale oil.
and..............
I wasn't questioning the root of the word just saying that you septics call it kerosene, we call it parrafin.
or even paraffin
So you Brits change the word to parrafin stupid brits
why do you always blame the yanks for things ? Kerosene was patented in the usa , and you call it parafin. blame the yanks for what you chose to call things, why do you do that? I don't understand.so you yanks speak Greek do you

NoI'm not blaming the yanks for anything
as I said before, all I was saying was that you call it kerosene and we call it paraffin (thanks Daft) there's no need to get defensive or argumentative about it is there .
No
Ok
Why do you call it Paraffin then?
