Sorry mate, I don't quite understand you.

To blow air into the car it's the heater fans.

The air con fans blow air over/through the air con condensor that's in front of your engine radiator.

classic 4.2 lse , lever's only setting's of recirc, air con normal heating and somthing not sure of , blower fan only work's when set to aircon !?? hope that help's .

I'm a P38 man so I'll back out gracefully and leave you with the classic experts, sorry.

No I don't mean that I'm sorry that I'm leaving you with the classic experts, I'm sorry that I can't help further.

does the fan operation work normally when a/c on? can you jog my memory on a/c activation, do you have lever op or square push button. I wonder if there has been a wiring mix up or did this happen out of the blue? A/c will not activate if heater fans not on not the other way round but may be possible to wire it wrongly if dash has been out or similar work. Don't mean to sound like a tit but have you checked all fuses and relays. Another thought blower will work with key at p2 but a/c will only work with engine running, if you try fans with key at p2 with a/c on and off this may put us down the right track.

The classic aircon unit inside the car has a separate fan to the main heater fan as it's a sort of bolt on extra. Does your heater fan work on full speed but no others? If so, it'll be the resistor bank. If it's not working on any speed, it may well be seized or jammed or just burnt out. Either way, dashboard out I'm afraid.

Sounds like you have the same problem I had only weeks ago. My heater blower only worked on the 3rd setting(resistor pack behind the lil grills on top of the bonnet burnt out)
Then my blower would make a very loud chopper type sound when on the 3rd setting.

Changed the resistor pack without too much grief, I say too much as the other option was the whole dash AND centre console out to get to the heater unit which I believe has air con attached to it whic I was very very wary of tampering with.

So I'd say if your replacing your resistor pack then don't fret too much as it's just a fiddly tight arm scraping skin off kinda job :D

It sounds like you have the same set up as me, air con blowers should be in the passenger foot well area ( under the dash visible if you stick your head down and look up)
Above that inside the dash , you can't see it unless you take the centre vents all off, disconnect the clock and electric mirror switch.
The air con unit lies in there with the fans directly below it so it blows out the centre vents.

Here's the resistor replacement you want, it's a good set up.

Although it says britpart it's made by British Atlantic in the USA and is a good quality replacement as you can't get the original ones anymore
