Not really...look up and search for Blend Motors
(Distribution one to be more precise)

Probably blend motors, do a quick search, there's lots of info :)
Do you have the book symbol on the HEVAC unit?

You can if get to it through the binical appature (speedo)but it not easy! still easyer than the alternative though (dash out)

Ahh, blend motors! could not remember what they were called. Yes, got the bible displayed on the HEVAC. At some point i'll see if they can be adjusted manually to divert hot air to the screen for the winter.

I've always heard it referred to as the 'cheque book' symbol but 'bible', why not? With a P38 you're always paying or praying.

mine did a similar thing the gears/shaft had separated from each other, rather than replace the motor the garage just opened up the flaps so air is always blowing at the screen. quicker than taking everything out to swap the motors.

The heated screen works ok, so not in a rush to get it done. Don't know why I said bible, but suppose it's relevant :D

Just a note I did my blend motors today took them out of the donor car but in the end only needed one for temp drivers side Ialso found that the cogs in the directional flap motor were out of line lined them up and bingo all good took 4 hrs all in including removal

You did the dot to dot trick then? :D:D;)

I did the dot to dot mind you when I had the dash out a few months ago I sectionalised the ducts that is took them out and cut them cleanly and fixed velcro on all joints so it comes apart dead easy made life so much easier and it went back together simples :D:D

Dot to dot?
Had my directional motor out cos the book is on.the motor moves but couldent get it lined up to go back in seemed the spindel didnt go round far enough

If you open up the blend motor you will see that two cogs have dot/lines on them make sure they are aligned before you cycle them or it all goes horribly wrong sometimes and no idea why cogs jump and once they are misaligned show as a fault when in fact there is nothing wrong with the motor.

You need to open the case and set it back to neutral, line up the arrows on the gears. The flat on the drive pin should line up with the long side of the casing. DO NOT switch ignition on whilst motor is not installed on heater unit.

Ah done that already to see if it moves it does but still throws the book up
what have I cocked up by turning the ign on?

The motor is stopped when it stalls at the end of the flap travel. If it is not connected to the flap it overruns and stalls by jamming. You can knacker the potentiometer or strip a gear. Set it back to neutral re fit it and have your fingers crossed when you switch the ignition on. You have of course checked the flaps for ease of movement?
