I had a problem with this, and found that pulling out the connector a bit re-attaching it and then crimping the connector again did the trick. There should be a little "back and forth" play on the wire and tab.
If the metal tab bit is broken then this can cause problems. I have succeeded in the past with soldering as there was enough of the tab still attached to the window. It should work as long as you have a good contact. I wrapped it in stripped copper cable to bind it and then blobbed some solder upon it.

I stuck mine to the screen with glue, then wrapped stripped copper wire as above, then painted a load of conductive paint from maplin on it. Kept building it up until it looked like it would work. And it did. Just the rest of the car to fix now...
