Hi,
Im very new to owning series land rover and this forum! Basically the heater motor needs replacing and I can't find the part anywhere. Would anyone have any ideas or how to fab a left hand drive one to a right hand drive car?
Many thanks in advance.

you can probably get a complete heater fan unit on ebay for less than a new motor.

I did see the motors on the famous four site last year for around £50 but can't see them now.

If you mentioned what part of the universe you're in it might help...

Unless the motor has had all of the magic smoke let out of it, it may well be amenable to disassembly and cleaning. What usually stops a Smiths motor from functiong is grungy bearings and congealed lubricant in same.

What's it not doing?

I'm from East Yorkshire sorry.
Yeah I'm not quite sure to be honest. I've been told by a few in the know it needs replacing. Just the first 10 places just said the part was obsolete but I think I've managed to find some close to home.
Thanks for your help. I'm pretty new to the series land rovers so it's very much appreciated!

When the case on mine rotted and the fan blades shattered I replaced it with a bilge blower, loads of them on eBay.

There's a blower conversion thread in either the Series of defender 'how to' section

If you're feeling flush this month they can be ordered from a well known supplier based in Cyprus. I've never seen a complete unit for sale new in the UK though.
Most tend to try and refurbish the ones they have.

GENUINE LAND ROVER HEATER BLOWER ASSEMBLY 12V SERIES III RHD PART NO MRC6248 | eBay

Watch sites from cypres. Its just recycled secondhand parts. A legacy of MOD presence. The part's may be genuine but I'd be wary of the provenance. U can buy the heater matrix but they do cost a lot. Earlier advice in this string suggests u can source in the UK so avoid foreign stuff.

Is the motor spinning? Have you checked the wiring? Don't believe mechanics when they say something needs replacing that often means they don't know how to service it!

my heater fan didn't work when I bought my s3, I connected the fan directly to the battery when I swapped my bulkhead and found the motor worked.

when I went through my electrics I found out why the fan didn't work, it was connected to one side of the fuse box and there was nothing on the other side!
