The heater fan on my 02 TD5 is not working. The fuse is ok. I searched online for advice & found this:

I cut the red lead to the plug that supplies the motor etc & did a test with a lead from the cigar lighter port: the fan motor worked normally.
I then connected a cable direct to the battery & as soon as I turned on the ignition the hazard lights came on & the car would not start. The red security light was on so I tried resetting the system by removing the earth lead. On reconnection the hazards came on again & the car would still not start. I got a friend with an Autel to read codes - he could not access the ECU. Advice please!!!

That link you posted is wrong... though if the advice you found online was to connect the motor directly to the battery not to piggyback F7 it was b0ll0x anyway regardles that the fan kicked in... now the fact that the fan didnt work onit'sbown only with direct feed shows that there is a problem within the fusebox which might have got worst and now it's immobilised so it will not communicate with diagnostics.

Can you unlock with the fob? ... check the inertia switch first

Re first reply - the key fob didn't work until I pressed the inertia switch, then it all returned to normal. My Haynes wiring diagram for models WITHOUT AIRCON (mine has) shows a lead colour w/r from F7 to the heater control system. Can I apply a live feed to this & bypass the fusebox?
I also notice the heater unit shown in the video that I referred to in my original post is different to mine. It has 3 fan speed buttons - mine only has 1. The wiring diagram in post 2 has a 4 pole fan speed switch; is there a different diagram for the heater in my car?
Re post 3 - by climate control do you mean aircon?

Measure if you have voltage on F7 and if it is measure at the blower relay C153 brown/red wire and if no voltage there use a piggyback fuse in that slot and connect it to the brown/red wire in C015 , WR wire is after the relay, not OK to connect live there

Hi, I have 12v at F7 but am unsure about the location of the blower relay C153. There's 0volts on the brown lead going into the connector C431 (which I originally connected to the battery) I presume this fits into CO 15. I can't see C647, C901 or C056. I've attached photos of it all - a bit different to the one you sent.. Thanks for your help so far.
