No had any issues yet, but it was f'ing hot a week or so back when i was in it. OK on the move but not funny when stopped.
No way a series blower is going to make much of a cooling fan. I also took out the downward option so the blower/heater only clears the screen now.
I have changed the dash a tad though and installed an Erberspacher heater under the passenger seat.

Fitting the control cable but there isn't a grub screw on the holder at the controls end to hold the cable in place. I could put a grip on either side I guess but would rather just use the original set up - any idea what the thread size is for the grub screw? Also need 2 studs to secure the controls to the dash but don't know the thread size for these either. I'e tried all the old studs I have but none fit.

Currently don't have any heater control (ie hot/cold) as there isn't a cable, but then then isn't anything at the engine end to control it so would this work if I put it on the hose inline where the hot water feeds into the heater matrix:

Its a S3 (with the heather matrix and all the water pipes feed in an out the matrix and it does get hot) but with a Rover V8 so looks like it could work.

Although the original controls did hot and cold, the hot does not work unless the fan is on, due to there not being a forward facing air intake.
If you use the original side/wing intake you could easily leave the heater on permanently and no hot air would enter the cab until the fan was switched on.
If you want cold air just open the window or front vents.

Been thinking about a scoop ,bobsticle ,how did you take the downward option out.
On the inside of the bulkhead there is a simple square hole from the heater matrix. As I was removing and building my own dash I simply made a plate out of closed cell eva foam and used domestic waste pipe to plumb the air to the window vents.

The valves only let a piddly amount of water through anyway. Bin it off, and as said, you don't get hot air unless you turn on the blower. We live in the UK! How often do you really need to blow cool air around the cab? Anyway that's what the gaps/holes are for. Lol
plus vents and windows

Mine has a slidy glass thing on the side for hot days, I think its a "window". I tend to leave the heater on all year as mine is an S2A with the brass tap under the bonnet but I've noticed in very hot weather its best to turn it off to make sure all the water passes through the rad matrix, it has a noticable effect on engine temp. My Perkins has a really big water pump so there's plenty of flow to the heater but I think the flow on the std LR set up could be quite low, You could try fitting a 12v water pump like the Mercs have to boost the flow. You could probably use it as heater on/ off in place of the valve.
