Hi I've got a 300tdi and the cable which control the flaps to put heat to the floor has broke or been cut out before by someone. Does anyone know wher this cable runs to. Is the lever that directs the air up and down or does it go ton the heater box. If it's the lever how does it fix to it. The bit of cable I have found has no sleeving on it so don't think that's right either. I've searched for this information through old threads and it's not listed. How hard is it to fit a new cable and would I have to have the whole dash apart.anybinformation would be most useful.

The cable fixes to the lever at the dashboard end just like the hot/cold one does. The other end goes through the parcel shelf (almost under the instrument binnacle) and connects to a bar that holds the 2 flaps that close off the outlet to the footwells.
If you're lucky, the inner will be long enough to connect to the lever and all you'll need is to slide a new outer on and fix that at the lever end. If not it is the crash pad off, dash off, parcel shelf off then the cover for the air box off and then you can get to the flap bar. I have some pictures somewhere as I've had to take it all apart to fix the springs that hold the flaps!

Can't work out how to link to it, but go to LR4x4.com and search for "Twang! Now how do I fix it?" in the Defender section for more info.
