LR dealer says it does not have the wiring to allow heated jets to be fitted.
After market? Difficult?
I am not really concerned about headlamp washers or rear washer.

Why bother?

Because screen totally obscured by dried salt spray on winter evening. Washers would have cleared it but were frozen. Same happened in daylight a few days later.

You can buy screenwash/anti-freeze which can be used for either. You just change the dilution. Most of the motorist shops sell it and I think Tescos do as well.

Or you could put hot water in the washer bottle (ha ha!)

Screen wash / anti freeze is mostly methanol.
DO NOT use glycol-based antifreeze in your washers as it may eat your nice paint job. Pure methanol is cheap.

Just 10% in your washer bottle should do it, but HEY!
It is JUNE! Well, it is up here but maybe the EEC has changed it in England.

ah dint see how heated washer jets will stop the water in the washer bottle from freezin.

:D :D Heated washer jets:D :D :D Whatever the **** will they think of next:D :D :D :D

Actually they are quite usefull in certain winter conditions. At least here in Finland. E.G. when the night-frost has frozen the remnants of evening rain into about 5mm thick ice coat on the hood. This cannot be prevented by alcohol-based solvents in the washerbottle. Everyone does not live in the tropics, you know...

My experience fits with what TimoV says. It is not the strong solution of methanol based fluid from the bottle that freezes and stops the washer working.

I believe the Volvo 400 series had heated washer jets ( the 480 I had for a while certainly had them fitted because I was really impressed when I discovered them).
It wouldnt be a massive job to fit them / sort out wiring /relay / fuse / switch etc & given the fact we have 4 seasons every day here its got to be a worthwhile modification.
As you said, a dry salted screen & frozen washer jets just isnt funny.
