Hi All.. I've read some threads about the heated seats but I'm not making much sense of them, my drivers seat (L322 2004 Vogue) when the switch is depressed it comes on for 5 seconds then goes off,I've tried the diagnostic test several times and nothing lights up to indicate any faults present with the seat. Where do I go from here ! HELP ..

If it goes on then off...there is a fault somewhere....

Could try testing for continuity through the heater coil but what it would/should read I have no idea.

just continuity if the heating element is broken it will read open circuit. simples

if its anything like the p38 there a simple fix

could it be going open circuit as it heats up and expands? Thermostat too sensitive?

Doesn't get the chance to heat up it only lasts 5 seconds i'm surprised by how many people are having this problem but unfortunately they don't reply once / if they get it fixed so not sure if its worked ! I'll carryout a con-check to see if any of the cables coming out are open circuit ..the test doesn't work, nothing on the snap-on diagnostic reader ..

Fault code reader won't pick up an open curcuit wire in the heated pad good old fashioned fault finding with a metre will tho, just buzz it out should be obvious what wires are the heating circuit.

Hi just searching for information on heated seat and your issue from above post is exactly the same as my drivers seat. I was running the car during lock down and pressed the heated seat while not sitting in it and it stayed on for several minutes. I then slowly sat on it to see if it stopped and it stayed hot until I turned it off.
Did you get an ultimate solution as I need to fix. I did the switch test and all lights show as no fault.
Anyone else who has a solution please let me know.
Cheers Tricky.

Hi yes it's the internal heating coil located in the seat. No quick fix unfortunately apart from ripping the seat apart and even then the element costs a fortune. Replacement seat is the best option I'm afraid..

Hi thanks for the update it was never going to be a cheap fix but knowledge is everything with a Land Rover.
I’ll get on it in the coming weeks because I’m afraid I do need a heated seat for the winter.
Cheers Tricky.
