The heated windscreen only "heats" in certain places, does this mean a new screen to fix the fault?

I do have a small chip in the middle of the screen that might be an MOT fail.

Cheers

is it half and half or just scattered heating ?

easy fix is to check your insurance includes the windscreen replacement :)

£100 windscreen excess= easy fix :)

When the screen is misty you can see the elements that don't work about 30% of the screen doesn't clear.

It will only fail again. Aircon on will demist it in no time.

The heated screen is not really for demisting.

for de-icing really

60 seconds to de-ice mine when frozen solid

Faster then the conventional blower

Amazing how many cars even today don't have heated windscreens !

Could that be because they are expensive and unreliable?
You have a fuel burning heater, it should de-ice in no time with the car heater.
A heated screen is only needed IMO in places like Canada where it can regularly get to minus 30C with falling snow, heated wipers and washer fluid are also useful in those conditions:)

Could be ?

Mines original, after 11 years it's still working fine

FBH still takes 5 mins for the heat to come through
So in the meantime the heated screen does its job

Not if you programme it to come on before you go out or use the remote.
If yours is still working after 11 years it's unusual. I had a fleet of Fords, the heated screens rarely outlasted the warranty. We never had them replaced as replacing the screen often led to leaks.

Been trying to get the remote to work on mine, but the buggy software on the faultmate won't allow me to enable the FBH receiver

Are the water jets heated for the windscreen? Will Enquirery about a replacement screen. The car is booked in to get the suspension looked at will Enquirery then.

The L322 has heated washer jet nozzles and where the wiper blades sit on the windscreen there is a heat pad

Very pricey windscreen lol the elements do break and certain areas don't clear as a result! This is classed as wear and tear so make sure u pick up a chip that cracks b4 u call ur insurance ;) it's the way to go tho, new windscreen which at our place has a 5 year guarantee against anything other than it getting broken
