after driving for about an hour the gap between the drivers seat and the centre cubby box starts to emit some serious heat and then it speads to all over the gearbox and transfer box area. i know its usawell to get warm because it did this with my old 2.5td but i didnt expect it from a 04 td5 110. any clues as to what it might be? or if this is normal.

Mine doesn't give off any heat that I can feel. Where abouts is the heat at its most intense?

Transmission brake binding/rubbing?

How's yer oil levels in yer boxes and do ye have insulation on yer tunnel and seat box area?
