Hi all just took delivery of new Heart and Lungs for the p38 97 2.5td. Donor came from a Vauxhall omega 2.5td with 95k for £325 delivered. Mine done 197985 and starting to get tired and leaving a black cloud behind us like its just spat out a thunder storm.Question is Apart from usual stuff to change Hoses, fluids, belts, etc what else should i be changing. I know about the oilpan and engine mounts being different, is there anything else i should know about before i get the lumps out and back in then only to find something else needs changing.

Cheers for all the help in advance and will take pics and possibly put a instructable together.

P.S won't be swapping it within the next 6 to 12 weeks as i have just had a microdiscectomy on my back and not even allowed to pick up a bag of spuds, Only been a week so far and bored sh**less already(One of these that cant sit still for five minutes) cant even go and sit in pub can't drink cause of painkillers:bored::bored::bored::bored:

As above, need to use the range rover pump or atleast the electrical gubbins from the range rover pump....else you aint getting nowhere

cheers for that wasn't sure about the pump. When you say electrical gubbins do you mean the black box thing on the outside or is there something internal

Omega pump un altered it won't run, either alter it as discussed in any omega engine threads on here or understand how to correctly change pump

changing pump not a problem as had it off last year to do seals to cure fuel leak and had a few probs there so now know how to set it back up

If its an auto Id suggest doing the flex plate whilst its in bit too mate. A new plates only £60 and simple enough to do when engine and box are apart..

£47.64 for diesel and £34.68 for petrol. Somebody stiffed you at £60.00. :D:D

Don't know if it's of any help but I put an Omega lump in mine about six months ago. As you have said I swapped the sump, engine mounts, I also swapped to the range rover wiring loom for the engine ancillaries but I left the Omega fuel pump as it was and it has run fine, after about two months the fuel pump did develop a leak on the top two seals, I replaced these this in position and it has run fine ever since, but as said I did not swap any parts from my old pump to the new it ran fine without any alteration.

Hope this helps

Hi slight laptop problem fixed now though, cheers for the advice, had a new flex plate when the gearbox went 18 month since so should still be ok. would it be wise to replace the timing chain guides as well
