Fitted new Wella halogen headlights. No full beam. When I switch to full beam no lights . Any idea what's happening?

Take a wire from the battery and test the new headlamps to make sure they work, then it's a question of checking your wiring to make sure it is supplying power. Maybe the connections on the new head lamp are not the same as the old ones in terms of which connection does what.

Alternatively, once you checked the lamps, check the switch, the copper connection for high beam and the courtesy has a habit of stress fracturing. You can drill it, and put a little bolt in to fix it, but to be honest a new switch is a lot less hassle. Just make sure it has the same plug...or rather, the wires are in the same places.

if you are saying dipped beam work ok, but when push the indicator stalk for main beam you get no lights at all ?

pop the lights out again and clean up the 3 spade plug (bend the H4 bulb tangs slightly so that they are under tension in the spade connectors and more likely to make good contact)

also go over the ganged earths plus ganged 12v feeds which are behind the grill tucked up by the bonnet catch. these are horrific bullet connectors set up

That's what I'm going to check. Suspect bad/ dirty pin connections.

Whatever you do, don't let the smoke out of the wires!
Luckily you can get replacement smoke...

If you've put halogens in you're draining more current so you ought to fit a relay (advice elsewhere on this site) Does the flash work?

halgoen are actually the same amount of watts as a late model sealed beam. but due to them running hotter the inrush current is higher (the spike in current when you ask the filament to heat up from cold)

to be honest even using relays on sealed beams you would see an improvement in visible light.

To be honest, updating to halogen was one of the best upgrades I ever did..with relays for both dip and main beam. Better than the candles in the wind I had before!

If flash works it's 99% switch problem. Beware cheap replacements, they're made of toffee and tinfoil.

Relays are a very good idea....they help the tinfoil cope :)

Just spent another afternoon ****ing with the connections. No result. I fitted a new battery last week in the dark ( ****ing autumn!) and noticed I've disconnected a relay. Still trying to figure it out!

Fixed! I fitted a new battery last week and must have caught wires going into a relay. Popped them back in including blue n white headlight wire and that sorted it. :)
