Sort the wiring resistsnce - clean all the coonections, make a good earth, fit relays (they really help) so that the current lights work as well as the could, then look at upgrades, but an upgrade won't fix poor connections. In my expereince LEDs seem to be quite sensitive and do some very odd things if the connections are poor.
