Need to change this as the water in my bottle keeps peeing out of the headlight washer jets. When the water level drops below the height of the headlight washers it stops, but by then I've already wasted a few litres of it.

Anyone knows if I need to remove the whole bumper to access it?

Mine's a facelift D2.

Although I am not sure if there is a non return valve in there for the headlamp washer, Sounds more like the pump may be fubarred.

Pump's ok. I can use the washers, no problem, they just leak when the water level in the bottle is above the jets. Got the nrv in the post today, just wondering if anyone had done it before.
 
Yes there is a non-return valve below the front bumper, with two jet pipes into one feed pipe, so get down and look, also have a look on eBay as to get an idea of what it looks like, there is always a few there, or google of course.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a non-return valve will stop the water flowing BACK from the jets to the bottle.
Your washers are running forward from the bottle to the jets, so a non-return valve IMO won't help.
I'm with @neilly here, it's probably a fault in the pump. OK it pumps as it should, but it doesn't close off the flow when the power is no longer applied.
 
IMO that non return valve is normally closed diaphragm type and opens under the high pressure when the pump starts then when the pump stops it closes..so if the diaphragm lost it's strenght it doesnt close anymore so the fluid gets to the jets as in comunicating vessels... in this case it's a good place to start and if a new one doesnt fix things then the pump becomes suspect

Absolutely right.

I actually got hold of an old NRV and I can blow through it with no resistance, whereas the new one is very tight and doesn't allow any air through. I'm guessing the diaphragm is past its best. Will get it changed over the weekend and I'll report back.

How did it go in the end? Did you manage without removing the bumper?

I suspect I've got the same issue and need to replace DNE100050
Follow the pipe back from the headlight washer and you will find it is quite long and goes a long way before encountering anything. When I had to change a washer jet I found I could do everything without having to remove the bumper although it was awkward.
This is on a pre-facelift mind.
 
Hi, Did mine the other week on my 2004 and cured the h/lamp washers "crying". I just removed the 2 lower screws/bolts on the lower edge of the plastic liner and tied out of the way. Removed 3 pipe clips and used a heat gun gently to warm the pipes to allow them to come off and on easier. More of a fiddley job than difficult.
