Sounds like a wiring problem, if you have had hot water blowing out from the expansion bottle it may have got in somehwere to cause a short circuit, the fuse box springs to mind.

when i bought mine, the headlight wipers/ washers , did not work, i found that the fuse had been removed, i replaced it. next time i used the screen washers with the lights on, the drivers side wiper and both washers just kept on going , until i removed the fuse.
the switch that stops them , is inside the headlight wiper motor, replaced that, no more problems
