well..new here..so may as well start something:D
poor lil girl lost power, dumped the contents of expansion tank on the road.
checked her n had bubbles rising in tank.. first guess is headgasket.
just spent 2hrs stripping her out..gasket don't look too bad..coupla dodgy bits
but seen worse..
whats strange is the barrels look like they've been recently honed..
now..i know i get forgetful after a few shandy's..but don't remember doing that..
n i've done about 3k in the year i've owned her..

put some pics up ,most gasket failures are only stains, bores and rings last very well unlike earlier engines and good cross hatch is often evident

Right ..well..headgasket replaced...and..well
still pumping white smoke out of the exhaust and still have "check engine" light on..
tho head seems ok..kinda getting stuck for idea's now :confused2:

Also how long have you ran the engine. Isit still bubbling. If not. And you know it's not cracked. The exhaust could be full of water... May just need to let it burn off.

I'd take the turbo off and get it checked, at the same time remove and check/clean all the air intake hoses, clean the intercooler and check the radiator for blown fins and stuff .. the oil cooler is integral to the rad so can cause issues like overheating very easily ...

right ..just back from garage..shows code 8e on reader
so either
crank position sensor (can't find one o them)
or
needle lift sensor on no4 injector
if faulty runs on limp mode and can overfuel
so
anyone got a no4 injector i can scrounge :D

she's not overheating paul
comes up to temp fine and holds there even over a 10 mile trip
its just the white smoke
local garage says fault code 8e and the fumes smell a bit diesely
there's a tiny bit of endfloat in the turbo but it spins freely with no noise at all
gonna try n check injectors today..subject to weather
