Anyone got a connection for a 300tdi cylinder head pressure test then skim (if it proves to be good) in cornwall?Preferably Bodmin,St Austell area but anywhere close-ish will do......if the price is right !

Any suggestions other than obscene or scatalogical welcomed.

Not sure on the head skim etc, but if you pop into your local factors, i think its Mill auto parts down your way, they may be able to tell you, or be able to contact a "friendly" garage who can advise on who they use. Or try Federation of engine remanufacturers for any local members who can help .... Federation of Engine Re-manufacturers hope the link helps..

Thanks mate. The mill autos is a bust cos they dont acknowledge the existence of vehicles over 5 years old and not a boy racer machine....old Ray might give a straight answer....might ! But respect for your knowledge of bodmin from over in benfleet! How come?

That Federation link is a good one, probably worth a sticky,if the mods are up for it.Im going to try them.

Thanks mate!!!

UPDATE -one at plymouth and one redruth,e mailed both, will see if and what they answer.Posted similar request in 300tdi engine dept and Treworgey gave me a lead nearby too.

But !!! if anyone else has any ideas then please send em in!If I dont get the 97 sorted the whole lot will be up for sale and I will go buy a road legal tractor instead!

Cornwall Engine Co at Redruth have quoted me £28 pressure test and £30 skim plus vat, head presented stripped.....if anyone was wondering.Does that sound reasonable?John Inch at plymouth want 40 pressure test and 35 skim....very nice reply though!

Both through British Federation

No one got any comment on the prices? Its years since Ive had a skim done and I dont know what the going rate is.....

Prices are about right. Lap the valves and replace the stem seals whilst the head is off.
