Hi I have today taken the head off & luckily the head seems ok I have to check for straightness , but when the head was removed the centre to pistons was full with water also some of the head holes had coolant in them, so how do I get the water put off the engine ???

Also is it easy just go clean the block & clean the pistons of carbon or what do I do ????

Any help much appreciated

as said above water is from removing head you should remove brass bung on passenger side of block just in front of down pipe ,unless theres a large amount of carbon on piston top leave alone (excessive would be unusual)clean block face and head ,new stanley type razor blades are great (new wont scratch like worn )for cleaning block face and head ,wipe clean with brake clean etc after, ensure bolt holes are clean

how hard did you find it to take head off, also how can you be sure the head is ok without sending it away to be checked, just asking because mines coming off soon most prob.cheers

you need to measure its flat ,cracks in head will be visible between valves if any or by washed clean valve ports ,cracking is quite rare ,gaskets are rarely blown unless running rough normally you can see staining across fire ring between the cylinders and to water ways
