Well after about 3 months of solid work weekends and nights after work the auto electrician came out and got the old girl started up what a great sound to here her again go a few problems with the electrics to sort and a last bit of welding for the mot splash of paint set the brakes up and her first mot for 12 months so hopefully in 2 weeks she will be in for mot and all the hard work has paid of

Well after 3 months of hard graft the old girl went for her first mot in over 12 months since I got her and I was over the moon when she passed with no advisorys so off we went to get her free tax and bang we had to come home on the tow truck I thought at first it was the stop selnoid but it wasn't so next morning did the click test on the selnoid all was good and I thought to myself cam belt so took 2 bolts out the plate being the 14 j engine got the wife to turn her over and just as I thought it was and its done my head in as I was going to do it after the mot as I didn't know how long ago it had been done the fella I bought it off told me after it was 5 years ago lol

Rotten luck after all the work put into it. I hope the engine damage is not too bad.
Well done re the MOT though.

X1 That's a real bummer after all that work. Really quality welding work too. I hope you get on the road soon. Landys eh!

Thanks not bad for a little £100 welder I'll keep you all posted just hope no bent valves or pistons with holes good old dingocroft came up trumps with the timing belt and tensioner and fan belt as the old 14 j bits are getting harder to get hold of

Turner Engineering are good for engine parts although can't say specifically for the 14J. They are usually extremely helpful though and would probably know people who can help if they can't.

Thats quite a good welding job to say its gasless, i could never get on with gasless.
It's not as clean but the little mighty mig did well I've just been cleaning the the cam housing up water pump off just got to get me bottom crank timing cog off so I can get to the oil seal then I can start to put it all back together and see if there any other damage
