Right my 03 freelander had it's HDC light come on just after being used, the other two lights normally associated with this the TC and ABS have not appeared.

I have taken it to Landrover who kindly plugged it into their computer and after a couple of run through tests determined that it was a fault with the HDC relay. (They didn't have one in stock at the time and after paying for service then labour for the computer check didn't want to give them another penny to plug in again reset and fit)

I have the new relay which I purchased and have fitted and the light is still on as the, I assume ECU needs to be reset. I have tried disconnecting the battery as described in another thread on here and no luck.

Is it a case that I need to take it back to Landrover and have it reset by them or is there a reset procedure that anybody is aware of as I recently was able to switch off the SRS light on the misses little nissan micra by following a couple of steps turning ignition on and off!!!!

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Tom

I don't know of any way to reset the MIL other than clearing the fault code with a code reader. You don't need to go to Landrover though, any garage or enthusiast with a generic code reader/scanner should be able to do it.

At the risk of talking Bo11ox again, can you not clear the fault codes by cutting the battery for a couple of minutes and then reconnecting?

Tried cutting the battery and no luck there? Will try finding an independant Landy person to reset it!!! Cheers for the advice.
