Hi, first post so be gentle.

Girlfriends been driving our Gaylander, as you seem to call them, for a few week whilst i recover from a knee op.

Took it out today and while driving on Motorway car started juddering (felt like a flat tyre) HDC warning light and TRACTION CONTROL warning light came on .Anyway paniced ,left motorway ,checked tyres (Dont laugh).Got back in car and lights had gone out . Drove it home steadily and it seemed ok.

It turns out its been difficult to drive on a morning from standing & problems reversing. Now she tells me!

Ive done some searches on here from which i gather could be to do with brakes.Hopefully its not clutch or anything major expensive.

Id love to go out right now and take it all apart but not fit to roll round under car at moment.Would like your opinions before taking it to a garage.

ps. Didnt know whether to post this but with a 5 year old Freelander and short pockets Ive a feeling im going to be on this site for quite some time, so why not start now.

Seeing as its a 1.8 K series engine its more likely to be an engine problem than to do with the brakes.Often if the engine ECU is failing,(usually MAP sensor ) or throttle body problems then the ABS,TC and HDC lights will come on as the engine ECU cannot feed good info to the ABS ECU - which it needs to all the time its running.
The only way to find out is to stick it on Testbook and read the stored codes then watch the live data.
The saving grace is that they are usually quite simple to sort out.

Thanks for reply ill take all that on board. But why does car judder(felt like a flat tyre) on motorway as i mentioned. Is that the ECU /ABS feeding the wrong info to the brakes therefore locking one of them?
Sorry to sound daft but i like to learn

Just been for a 5 minute drive and passenger side rear drum was very hot.No lights on dash or juddering .I think ive found where the problem is but dont know the cure.
