Thought I'd add my experience as I've just had the same faults on my used '08 Vogue. In my case it can't be down to cold weather as I've only had it since mid May this year.
First a bit of background:
I'm just back from a mammoth road trip holiday, mountain biking in the Alps. In the last 3 weeks I left my home in Germany and drove to Switzerland and back. Then I drove to Austria, through northern Italy to the French Alps and then back again through Switzerland. Last week I drove to Calais and took the tunnel to Folkstone and visited family down south in England. In all I covered about 3100 miles.
It was on the way back that the problem first occurred.
While queuing in traffic near Guilford after driving for an hour, the faults HDC INACTIVE and AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE pinged up along with TRANSMISSION FAULT, AIR SUSPENSION LOCKED AT ACCESS LEVEL and STOP SAFELY (or words to that effect).
After pulling over I found the suspension control switch was not accepting inputs and the ABS and HDC warning lamps were on. After a quick google I found this thread and so I switched off the engine and on again. After that everything was fine and I drove back to Germany without the faults reappearing.
As an aside, I'm suffering from a faulty TPMS, claiming I should check all tyre pressures. I had this since I purchased the car but the local stealer fixed it with the help of LR Germany, claiming a software error was preventing it from working. During my holiday it seemed to work fine (apart from coming on for a few minutes once or twice). However after touching UK soil at Folkstone the fault appeared again and has stayed on since.
The pressure monitoring sensors are all brand new as I had new wheels fitted when I had summer tyres put on. Can this fault also be caused by battery issues?
