Thanks for the responce chaps!

Both times this has happened i have been an hour into a journey on the motorway. Battery is new and charges normally..................????????
I am having the same problems, wet and dry, cold and hot and like you can drive for an hour; stop and hey presto they are back again. Please if you find out a solution let me know because its driving me nuts Thankyou

I did that... Brought it to a land rover service shop when the air suspension failed last month... Told them about this issue as well, they said they cleared the codes and replaced some parts... Yet it still does this. I'd bring it back again, but they told me since everything checked out on my last visit I'd need to bring it in while it's displaying the trouble code. I was hoping someone here possibly had an idea as to the source of this issue.
Yep ditto, had the codes read and reset with a variety of unconfident " try that" suggestions but its exactly the same - god it feels good to know i'm not alone but its driving me mad Gary

Typical signs of low battery voltage on start up,LM RR's are even more fussy than the old LP's,(P38's) in this respect.

Hi mate
I had the HDC inactive message today briefly, first time I've ever seen it. You mention low battery but i replaced mine in Nov with an exensive one, could it be something else? or possibly a drain on my brand spanking new battery? :(

All you guys talking about fitting new batteries. Have any of you gone one stage further and checked the other ends of the battery cables, input cables to fuse box, earth leads?

What I'm thinking is that you might have all the power you could ever want, at the battery, but is it getting where you need it, and has it got a good return path to the battery?

Just a thought.

i currently have the same problem on a customers vehicle and have spent a small fortune fixing lots of other faults to get to the fault.
just to let you know i use T4 diagnostics
first fault no vehicle coms found lcs had had the service light reset with a snap on diag tool and cleared all the setting replaced this as per land rover tech reprogramed it then tried to configure all the ecusto it then found the headlamp ecu not talking found ecu under carpet on pass side replaced this retried atlast vehicle comunications!
found main faults were the abs ecu and the steering wheel angle sensor cleared the faults road tested all ok customer has car back lights come back on have replaced the angle sensor and recalibrated road tested again the light comes on and off spoke to friend at lr tech he has advised the abs ecu is at fault!
looking for a loan abs ecu to try on this customers to see if the curupt angle sensor has damaged the abs ecu will keep you all posted

Are you refering to the headlight lowering ecu ? (With the pink/purple plug.)

Hi, I have the hdc ping regular on startup. I have had it investigated by main dealer three times. They say it is a chip fault that flashes up the unnecessary warning randomly and requires a new motherboard. However as it doesn't affect the cars performance and it doesn't occur on all cars it isn't something they want to replace even under the extended warranty. I trust this garage, they have so far been very straight regarding other issues and replaced other stuff at short notice under the warranty without fuss. I don't use the HDC feature on a regular basis so I would be interested if any one has this warning and then finds the HDC won't engage.

I have had the same HDC inactive ping when starting the car ,only if its stood for longer than 10-12 hours. disconnected my boot mounted DVD player and headrest t.v. 's (reconnect them for longer trips when the kids want them on) and it virtually stopped so It appears to have been the battery voltage dropping below about 11.5 v. as soon as car starts message clears and the HDC works no probs.

Yes that is the correct plug
Customer had the car back for a month and it has played up again have found it is the n/s/f calliper binding and causing the abs sensors to read odd value and intermittently put the light on new calliper all is fixed

ive had same problem, took it to the specialists and seeing the front diff and drive shaft have had to be replaced they said it was the steering angle sensor that had been knocked and had to be re aligned. 24 hrs later the air susp. inactive warning has come on again, will let you guys know how i get on, glad ive got a warranty.

i have a 04 l322 and had the Hdc inactive flashing upand also i had the suspension inactive come up
the suspension was to do with the garage not jacking the car up properly and so the suspension shut down, i took it to a Range rover tech and he cleared the lot it all started working fine , them yesterday the Hdc inactive come back again??? i have been told the Batteries are to small for the car??
i would take it to someone who can clear the faults and see if it has a problem
i agree with this my l322 was the same found out car wasnt jacked up right

my experience of this over the past eight years have been battery drain eg when waiting for the wife to get shopping sitting with the radio or tv on without the engine running. suspension inactive appears the car then revs higher on tickover for a couple of hours pressumably to replenish the battery then cures itself. the other suspension inactive was different tyre pressures literally 2 lb diff new tyres solved a probable slow leak the fitter said its typical of these alloy wheels. and my cure over the years has been a suspension reset tool from rws solutions

Exactly!
The ignition switches on the centre console are a common failure!
They may be getting 12/14 volts in but are known to start to fail and only let 9 to 10 volts out!
This then confuses the air suspension ECU and it starts throwing up faults !

Check your output voltages on ignition

Thought I'd add my experience as I've just had the same faults on my used '08 Vogue. In my case it can't be down to cold weather as I've only had it since mid May this year.

First a bit of background:
I'm just back from a mammoth road trip holiday, mountain biking in the Alps. In the last 3 weeks I left my home in Germany and drove to Switzerland and back. Then I drove to Austria, through northern Italy to the French Alps and then back again through Switzerland. Last week I drove to Calais and took the tunnel to Folkstone and visited family down south in England. In all I covered about 3100 miles.

It was on the way back that the problem first occurred.

While queuing in traffic near Guilford after driving for an hour, the faults HDC INACTIVE and AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE pinged up along with TRANSMISSION FAULT, AIR SUSPENSION LOCKED AT ACCESS LEVEL and STOP SAFELY (or words to that effect).

After pulling over I found the suspension control switch was not accepting inputs and the ABS and HDC warning lamps were on. After a quick google I found this thread and so I switched off the engine and on again. After that everything was fine and I drove back to Germany without the faults reappearing.

As an aside, I'm suffering from a faulty TPMS, claiming I should check all tyre pressures. I had this since I purchased the car but the local stealer fixed it with the help of LR Germany, claiming a software error was preventing it from working. During my holiday it seemed to work fine (apart from coming on for a few minutes once or twice). However after touching UK soil at Folkstone the fault appeared again and has stayed on since.

The pressure monitoring sensors are all brand new as I had new wheels fitted when I had summer tyres put on. Can this fault also be caused by battery issues?

Low voltage can cause all manner of ECU glitches.

after parking up for a fortnight brakes stuck on ,eventually got it to move then whilst driving home a 100 miles into the journey got the dreaded HDC,ABS,DSC and air susp all inactive every time went round a right hand bend or corner the car selected low range ,turned out to be an ABS sensor throwing so many faults up it caused havoc on the can bus , ended up new abs sensor and overhauled all my brakes as the front calipers weren't retracting, then went into dealers as the steering angle sensor needed recalibrating. Ive got an rsw allcomms now so wouldn't even need to go back to dealers now.

Top job, well done ! ;)

Can u help ? I've unplugged my air compressor to move something in my boot and since I've plugged it back in , I have no lights on the dash for the suspension and can't go up it down ? Also have air suspension inactive ?

Please help

Diagnostics could be the only way forward if you have no lights at all on the selection switch as this indicates a hard fault....

Stick your location down, someone maybe local with the gear to help you out!!
