The rear crankshaft seal has begun to leak on my 2001 D2 td5 auto,

I'm considering fitting an Ashcroft heavy duty converter when i have the box out.

Have many people done this? is it worthwhile, and, will it help with the revvyness of the standard box?

Hi Gordy. Did mine along with Dynachip remap soon after. Made fantastic difference.

Depends how marginal torque limit of box is and where lockup occurs on hd convertor v engine torque

If transmission is in good condition no problem, But if there are issues or about to happen issue they will jump out. Then people will say they are not worth a damn and blame the manufacture for trashing there trasmission

Hi...yes I did mine about a year ago and its a different drive completely. Revs never go over ~2500rpm on a medium foot, so you've always got plenty of pull in the rev range between ~2000 and 2500. I hated the revvy standard torque converter so it was on my list. Recently got a remap by dynachip and its even better.
