Hi I`m after a bit of help & advice with some hawkeye codes on my td5 and their meanings & could`nt see anything after a quick search. After getting the three amigos come up after going down a bumpy road, I discovered my n/s/r hub sensor wire was a bit loose. I decided to buy a hawkeye to make sure it was the only sensor that needed replacing, after previously forking out £60 on a diagnostic test as I`m going to keep the disco for the foreseable future. anyhow these are the codes I`ve got from the hawkeye.

4045- rear left sensor, air gap too large. Can this adjusted closer/cleaned ?

4085- Driving sensor n/s/r. This is the previously mentioned loose cable so I assume best to replace whole hub? as from other threads it seems false economy just replacing sensor.

4086- intermittent sensor output during driving n/s/f. may try cleaning it first or as above ?

4134- Motor speed input, short or broken wire. What am I looking for with this

If anyone could help point me in the right direction i`d be grateful & also if anyone wants to come & use this i`m on the hertfordshire/cambridgeshire border

The sensors can be re-seated, as they only have one screw holding them in, plus you can get a tiny flake of rust over the tip that affects the output.

How many miles has the car done?

We've got 151k on the clock with original hubs.

Water in the plug and socket in the cable will also affect the output.

Hi Have you cleared the codes to see what comes back? You may not have as many problems as it seems.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I only recently moved & also have a 3 wk old son, so trying to juggle everything atm. It`s now on 107k so probably best to replace, but I`ll check the front one over first. I have`nt cleared the codes yet & rechecked, but was wondering if the 4134 code (motor speed input) may have something to do with my start up problem ? When I start it first thing in the morning it fires up on the 2nd turn of the key & 9/10 times it won`t rev straight away. sometimes you can be pressing the accelerator right down for 30+ seconds before it will rev. When I last had a quick scour of the forum, it looked like it could be either down to the pedal switch or if I remember rightly the fuel leak off valve on the top left of the fuel filter

Regard`s, Dan

Update. I cleaned all the crud out and removed the calipers to clean the sensors saturday & for the time being the 3 amigos are gone :). I also replaced the fuel filter & took off all the connectors to it for a good clean. Does anyone know if the little orange diaphram type fitting (on the back r/h/s connector to fuel filter, facing the front) should be open or closed :confused: as mine was open so not sure if this could be worn & the poss cause of poor starting as previously mentioned.

Thanks`s for any help, Dan

Thank`s Jamesmartin. Mine was opened up in the middle & I suspected it was meant to closed. Do you think this could cause the starting problems Ive experianced ? Also does anyone know where I can source a replacement or the name of the part ?

Cheer`s, Dan.

Those part numbers don`t seem to show the orange cone liked shape of the rubber type valve/diaphram I was referring to . I gave the parts shown up by those parts numbers a blow through with the compressor.

Regard`s, Dan.
