Hi everyone. I just moved to the UK a week ago from Oahu and just bought my dream truck (and my wife's), a Land Rover 90. I grew up working on older cars (and motorcycles) and certainly prefer the simplicity compared to today's cars that are smarter than I am! I already discovered a leaking rear hub and will check the axle breather first thing tomorrow before moving on to the next thing. This website is a wealth of knowledge and will be my first stop for any tips for maintaining the LR. Thanks to everyone who contributes to it!

Wow...
It's nice that you've bought a 90 and all that, but you've moved FROM Hawaii TO England?? Is it too early to ask what's wrong with you man?

B4nger - thanks for the tip on the half shaft gasket...I'll take a look.
While the weather in the UK is certainly different than Hawaii, we have found that the kindness and hospitality of British people has helped us to forget about that. Life is what you make of it and we're excited to make the most of living in the UK! We just needed to stock up on long sleeves and trousers.

Welcome, where in the U.K. Have you moved to?

As a side note, get some security on your Land Rover - a steering wheel lock etc - don't mind to frighten you but they are frequently stolen over here :/

We are in Churchdown near Gloucester. Thanks for the tip on the steering wheel lock. You're the second person to mention that to me so I'd better get on it! Any recommendations on the best brands for the larger steering wheel on the 1987 LR 90? I'm guessing one brand is as good as another as long as it fits, but would appreciate any insight to the contrary.

Not worth getting a silly bar thing, you need a full round job like disklok fitted loose so it turns without turning the steering wheel.

Welcome to Loonyzone, I'm just down the road near Stroud if you need to give me cake :)
