Hi All,

I recently bought some 16" alloys with BF Goodrich all terrains to go on my P38. They are original, stamped Land Rover wheels. I tried to have them fitted but was told they wont go on this P38 because of it being the 'later generation' of P38, i.e. too small for the hub. Does this sound about right? Is there any adaption that can be fitted etc? The wheels came off another P38, the older generation presumably. Just starting my search for some MORE wheels but thought I'd ask if anyone had any advice/experience of this type of issue before I committed any finances if there's a reasonably simple fix.

Cheers,

Grizzly Bear

p38 sits on a difrent offset to either the disco or defender it would sound like you have disco or defender alloys i may be able to help if you dont want them any more

I haven't got the opportunity to get any pics at the moment because it's at the garage. Bought it with a set of 22" alloys with the intention of swapping straight away for the wheels in question, but now I've been told they don't fit and one of the 22" has a nasty gash on the inside of one of the tyres, so can't take it anywhere, with either set of wheels on it! What a pain in £$%&.

reminds me...

these arnt my ones, but i have a set of these in my shed from my disco days with tyres, would they fit on my p38 or not ? (if not il sell them) drewster im in hampshire...

those are disco wheels polsta, they wont fit.
I have many sets of 16" and 18" in my unit. If you can make a trip in a car sat morning I can sort you out. We are just south of Bath and well worth a visit as we do mainly P38's and L322

just a thought but as the car had 22" wheels on it - have you removed the spacer rings from the hubs? The bigger wheels would have needed these and this would stop P38 wheels from fitting onto the hubs.

ok thanks, i best get them sold then

i havew 18" hurricanes with pirelli scorpions on my p38, and also a spare set of wheels the same, so dont need any, just had these as spares from my disco

how much should i be looking to sell them for as i jsut aswell get rid now asap if they are of no use to me, 4 good tyres on them

Just got some advice back from an independant land rover and range rover specialist who is suggesting these wheels are from the disco 1 and don't fit my hub/stud pattern. Just spoke to mechanic again who said I'd need 18inch wheels to fit over my hubs/discs/calipers etc. Does this sound about right for a '99 RR P38? Or can I get another set of 16inch wheels and put the tyres onto those?

id go with the spigot ring suggestion, if they are off a p38 they will fit, i think you will get a better answer if you upload a pic,

The tyres are pretty much brand new. The guy I bought them from bought them brand new for the snow last year, used them for three weeks and took them off.

I got a set of 17" Disco 3 wheels with ATs for the winter, all I needed was spigot rings and different wheel nuts, can't understand why the stud pattern would be different on yours.

if your wanting rid of your 22s ive got a set of 18" hurracanes with goodyear wanglers if you want to do some sort of deal?
i take it its the wheels on your profile pic?

If you have the Land Rover disks/calipers (they were all the same: petrol/diesel/manual/auto/poverty spec/wood'n'leather specials) then 16" wheel will definitely fit over your calipers.

That's not to say someone hasn't fitted bigger front brakes, but I'd be curious to know where from as I've not seen any "big brake" kits advertised.
