So I've been trying to find out where the water has been coming into my 110 for almost a year now. Last night I parked it downhill to find out if it is coming in at the join between the roof and the windscreen and came out today to find the passenger footwell full of water. Really should have closed the vent!

My wife is getting a new door seal for her birthday - after years of complaining about the water/draft :)

I am laughing at your expense. Loudly.

I trust, She will be truly grateful and enjoy fitting it herself...................:p:p

Cheers

It won't make any difference. I fitted a new N/S genuine LR door seal to the missus's 90 TD5 and the footwell still sometimes gets water in when it rains.
Plus the door now needs a good slam to close, otherwise it bounces on to the second catch.

If I park my defender nose uphill in heavy rain, I get a fair pour in at the top of the drivers door on my first left hand corner, have done for years! :D
I'm fairly convinced that most of the water now getting in (when the vents are closed lol) is coming in at the join between the roof and the windscreen frame. I've sealed all the roof seams with sikaflex and replaced all the door seals and the alpine window seals so there isn't much left. When I park pointing uphill the front of the roof is roughly flat and so the water is positively encouraged to gather at that join and there are visible gaps for it to come in through. A previous owner has put some sealant into this gap in the past but it is in poor repair. I'm waiting on delivery of some white silkaflex to redo the seal.

Oh I may be foolish enough to forget to close the vents on a wet night but I'm not stupid enough to think this will be the end of the water coming in. I'm just hoping it will be enough to stop me and my family getting soaked every time it rains.
