Has your Freelander ever been towed as a result of a breakdown? (Getting stuck doesn't count!)

what a pointless fooking Poll shud have just asked is there anyone on ere who's Gaylander, hasn't broken down.. would have been the shortest thread on LZ :D

well not towed exactly, but certainly pulled onto a flat bed

Americans would still call that towed.

are you jus ****ing around with polls or you wanna know if its possible to tow a gaylander. cos it is. i done it.

No actually, to your amusement I saw 3 Freelander's on the back of a flatbed today on separate occasions. It got me wondering. Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.

well that is quite a giggle but only if i forget that long night when my 110 was on the back of a flatbed for a failed lift pump...

if you tow a freelander you should remove the props first.

I for some reason used to think I'd read that too.
I think it does say no more than 50 or more miles on 4 wheel.Remove or tie up yhe propshaft,if towing with 2 whells off the ground/road

Was heading out towards Blarney on the dual carriageway on my motorbike and saw an early freelander pulled over and broken down. Was tempted to stop and see if they needed a hand but i probably wouldn't have been able to do much. By time i was coming back they were just getting winched onto a towtruck.

Mine had fuel pump failure over in the Lake District, returned approx 120 miles back on a flat bed truck courtesy of Green Flag ...trouble was that I was only covered for 10 miles to the nearest garage or home.
Still having trouble with the bill as the recovery company have billed me £1 a mile but have doubled the milage...surely these companys get other breakdown jobs back to their own areas...so I have'nt paid em yet :frown:

you can tow a auto but it is limited as long as you put it in N. My previous freelander with 173000 on the clock never been towed, but i towed my wifes when her clutch slave cylinder went

I got caught like this about 18mths back (Not a FL1) - £1 per mile home but I only got charged 50p per mile for the return journey.
Must be worth trying to negotiate?

I now have full cover on Green Flag (£70ish) Gives full recovery.

Yeah I'm with Nat West's Green Flag cover, Ive lodged a complaint with Nat West so I'm hoping for a bit of a reduction...I'm going to get full cover too when this is sorted.
Cheers Dougden ;)

I always thought it was bad to tow an auto as the output drive from the auto is turning while the car is moving. Without the pump/lube doing it's bit then this would be bad. Prop removed and front wheels lifted would be ok on a FL1.

i think it is something like about 20 miles but will try to check I have AA cover free through my bank and a lot of people do not realise that they have cover through the banks

Got it towed when I admitted to myself that the head gasket was fooked. Could have limped home but the overheating was going to do more damage.

Been fine since.
