Hi guys

like the sound of more economy, does it have an effect re MOT time

The only part of an MOT test you could fall foul of is the initial visual inspection of the system, which says the system should be checked for completeness and that there are no parts missing. A pedantic tester could fail you for having no cat as it was original equipement. It will not fail the emission test as diesels are not checked for CO2 only for smoke.

what year were the cats fitted? i had a stainless side exit exhaust fitted to mine when the backbox rotted through, might get back under it and decat it for a nicer rasp if theres one on mine.

removing the cat will not effect the mot , as long as its not blowing it cant be failed , trust me im a mot tester lol

hi guys ,not sure about the 2.5 diesels but regards the v8s i have a 1996 4.6 autobiography and a 2000 4.6 30th aniversary edition both running on lpg which i de-cated both , the cats are replaced buy a decat pipe which i bought from je engineering. [ dont think they have any left now but seen other companies selling them ]
these are a direct replacement for the cats they come with the holes in to screw your oxy sensors into
next fitted a janspeed s/s full system to each r/r with twin tail pipes
benifits are 30% LOUDER, SOUNDS GREAT:D- NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT ON MPG - MORE RESPONSIVE PULLS HARDER- ENGINE RUNS COOLER
BAD BITS ARE DECAT PIPE £250 JANSPEED SYSTEM £350:(
YOU DONT HAVE TO CHANGE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM YOU CAN JUST GET RID OF THE CATS
HAD NO PROBS WITH OXY SENSORS AS THESE WERE FITTED BEFORE THE CATS ANYWAY
IT ALLOWS THE V8 TO SOUND HOW IT SHOULD :)

Know what you mean but sadly you won't be doing all the P38 DSE decatted tests. There are lots of bods around who would pull it for not being complete.

All vehicles manufactured in 1993 and beyond must be fitted with a cat converter.

Just a point and not really bothered either way, but it would appear that removing a cat from a vehicle that was fitted with one as standard, under construction and use regulations is illegal. As the vehicle no longer conforms to the certificate of conformity regarding control of emissions.
