I beleive if you use the later gearboxes the front propshaft will foul on the crossmenber that runs under the clutch housing. you need to move this forward or cut a bit out. also your rear prop is going to be really short as said previously.

yer later gearboxes are longer than the series ones due to the extra gear.

I have one, and I would do it all over again. It is fantastic. I also installed an Ashcroft High Range transferbox. It is very easy, with minor mods to the vehicle. Make sure your gearbox is like new, or you will scatter it, so I am told. I rebuilt my gearbox, and it has done 15K miles with no problems. It doubles the fuel economy to boot. I get 7.8 miles to the liter on average, 35 to the UK gallon...

I used the series radiator, a 300 TDI intercooler and the Discovery engine mounts. never been happier with my 88...
