Hi. I am interested in buying a freelander from around 02 to 04. The wife likes the idea of having a "convertible" type 4x4. Do all hardbacks have this option, please? And if there are safari-type roof bars, does this affect the removal of the roof?
Sorry to be so dull, but I would like to know these things before committing myself to any model.
Thanks!

There was me thinking these were simple questions lol! Don't worry then; I'll get her a Suzuki Grand Vitara. :p

hi, ive got a 04 freelander hardback that you can make into a convertible, you have to take the roof bars off before you can take the "roof" off

I have had a 3 door hard top for about 4 years - they are great, but it is a two person job to get the roof off (did it once on my own and broke one of the clips - £35) - the roof bars do not make any difference to getting the roof off to my knowledge (although I do not use the roof bars).

I also have a shower cover for mine, this is ok for the rain, although I wouldn't want to do motorway speeds with just the shower cover on.

It is fun with the roof off - makes the car a cool little buggy, but you need a good stretch of dry weather to make it worth the effort of lifting the thing off.

Plus you need somewhere to put it....

To be honest anyone considering buying a freelander needs there bumps feeling ........ Must be the worst car Land Rover has in production! :car:
