Anyone have experience removing and replacing the hard top on a Land Rover 90? Any areas for concern? Specific areas to measure or validate for compatibility?

No. Just unbolt it and remove, get someone to help if you value your paintwork at all. If you can do Meccano, you can do that.

Hi! Yes, trying to replace a super-leaky roof top with a better one with a sun roof (my current one doesn't have one).

Sun roof will likely leak as much as the leaks on the old one. I use clear greenhouse tape on the seams of my solid roof. Works a treat, only a few quid.

Greenhouse tape? Do you get that at a specific store? If I could actually find the leak I'd try to repair it. Thought it was due to loose grommets on the roof, replaced those, and now the leak seems to be coming from somewhere else completely! Ugh.

Thank you. I have an enormous hard copy manual, too. Probably need to thumb through that one. My concern is more with the "new" one fitting at all, and then being able to secure it properly.

Tape over the seams might deal. Sikaflex is pretty good for other leaks. Works on boats.
I got my tape from Macsalvors in Pool, Cornwall. Long drive for you.
Try garden centres, good hardware or general stores. Chandlers or off the net for Sikaflex if you need it.

Have you already found a new roof to place your current one with? If so where did you get it from? Im trying to covert my pick up to a hard top but its impossible to find a Roof, Sides and a Rear Door for a reasonable price!

I've found some things on eBay. The roof, sides, etc are being auctioned off separately so a bit of a crapshoot--no guarantee I'll get all or any of the parts I'm looking for.
Are you trying to replace the entire roof? Aside from the leak in mine, it's fine. I just wished it had more windows and a sun roof.

The windows and sun roof are often a pain. More seals etc to leak. Never seen the point of sunroofs meself. Perfectly good piece of metal over yer head, keeping off the elements, why cut a hole in it?
The extra glass tends to lead to more heating up in the back. The white painted roof, combined with the vents under the dash, keeps the vehicle cool in summer. But not as well as the double tropical roof with vents under it that used to be available on series. Like most of the best features of landrovers, it got discontinued as the years went by!

Green house tape is wonder tape. I took Turbo's advice and I'm bone dry now. Stop tje roof leaks and you prevent a load of rust on door tops etc.

I've decided to try and fix the current leak, rather than introduce new issues with a leaky sunroof, etc. Removed the minging headliner to see what was really going on underneath. It needed to go!! I've ordered my green house tape, replaced all of the tired grommets in the roof and applied some Sikaflex seal. The rain held off long enough to give the Sikaflex a chance to dry (hopefully).

Sorry Mr NFNicholson, I can't help thinking that you need to reconsider the logic in your proposal. Replacing a roof, which lets in water through numerous holes, with one which features a strategically placed big hole, which sits immediately above your head, is perhaps not the best idea you have had for a while
