Happy new year all Just want to say hi and introduce myself as a final convert to the green oval!...I've toyed with Freelander TD4's for a while now and although they're ok in workaday kinda way just don't have the character of my recently aquired RR classic 300TDi with whom a very long and costly relationship has started.....She's called "Bunty" ( an upper class old girl, somewhat tired around gunnels but still willing to get a wriggle on when I get inside her ) She's just returned from a 1000 mile journey from Devon around north yorkshire and back without a single complaint at more than the legal motorway limit ( nice to see a more than a few surprised faces as something that looks like it should be driven by a villain from The Sweeney purring past at 85mph! ) whilst still returning around 28 mpg. She's nearly reached the moon in terms of mileage, has worked hard all her life and will continue to do so dragging caravans around the country as part of my business, and will I think offer my family and I many years of enjoyable transport..In the immortal words of Mr Clarkson, "what a macheeene! ) I have plenty of questions that need answering, the first that spring to mind being " did discerning MD's really spend a years salary on something that sounds like a tractor and how do I cure that? " to " did the same MD's also have stop every few bloody miles to close the tail gate? " ( actually I think some insulation tape on the way up might have cured that and if not my 5 year old did honestly suggest blue tack a complex web of bungee cords ) so no doubt I will become a regular!
