Happy Christmas to all on Landy zone.
Earlier this year I replaced the 13 year old battery on my Transit with a Varta battery of the correct spec. As soon as the cold weather arrived it would not spin the engine. Coincidentally, the abandoned P38 I acquired last year also came with a new Varta battery. It spent last winter in the barn while I sorted it out so never got to try the battery. This winter, like the Transit, as soon as the cold weather came, it will not spin the engine.
The Transit now has a new Hankook battery which does the business, the P38 will have to wait until the New year.
Read what you will into that, maybe I'm just unlucky.

I've got a Platinum 642X in mine. It is absolutely the dog's danglies.

Merry Christmas and all the best for 2018, nice to see you popping in now and again, you have been missed with all you knowledge:)

Happy Christmas Kieth Last year I got a hankook battery and it packed up when I was in Kazakhstan and the temperature dropped below 8 c but battery superstore replaced it but in the meantime i had to buy a bosch to get me home so now i have 2 range rovers and 4 batteries

Happy Christmas.
FWIW I had a similar issue a few years ago with Eurocarparts Lion brand batteries. Died at the first sign of cold weather. The chap behind the counter cheerfully told me that they reckoned to get around 1/3rd of them back in the warranty period.

ferkin' hell, blast from the past....glad to hear from you again Keith and hope all is well in Frogland....

Have a great crimbo and keep in touch!!

F**K me.. good to see you back Datatek.

A merry Christmas to you

Nice to see your still about Keith.
Merry Crimbo
13 year old battery....that's pretty good going! I've had a Bosch S5 019 in my TD6 for over 4 years now and can't fault it

As I've posted before it depends on the demands on the battery ie modern LR's are mobile power houses whereas my '87 Classic is quite happy with a standard battery that simply meets the vehicle manuf. spec. & bought from a local factor for £80. This has been in use now for 4 years despite the car standing outside for anything up to 3 weeks at a time. At the first sign of a slower than usual engine crank speed I replace the battery from the same source. I've only had one failure within warranty & that was replaced without question.

Good to see u back.:)
I have an Alphaline, as recommended by you some while ago. 3 years old now and never a moments hesitation so always starts well (apart from when there are glowplug failures, spill pipes leaks ...)

The Alphaline in my original P38 is 6.5 years old and still going strong.
